May 19th to 22nd, 2016: Taste of Bar Harbor
Enjoy the best that Bar Harbor has to eat and drink at its annual food festival, the Taste of Bar Harbor. This festival celebrates the rich culinary traditions of our region, and explores the exciting industries that are shaping the new flavors of Bar Harbor.
With cooking classes, brewery tours, and tastings for all palates happening throughout the weekend, the festival also features Dessert Night Competition, a Friday night Pub Tour, the opportunity to sit at a Chef’s Table, and this year introduces the Local Producer’s Showcase and Waiter Race.
June 2nd – 5th, 2016: Acadia Birding Festival
The Acadia Birding Festival is a 4 day event offering a variety of birding adventures. Come experience the birding wonders of Maine, from boreal to ocean – warblers, puffins, & more. We offer field trips, pelagic trips, paddling adventures, workshops, socials, & evening talks.
June 5th, 2016: MDI YMCA Acadia Half Marathon and 10K
This race is the MDI YMCA’s 2nd largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the Half Marathon help fund our scholarship program. The MDI YMCA is the cornerstone of youth development and recreational activities on the island.
Course features breathtaking view of Acadia National Park and Maine’s rocky coastline. It is a Spectacular 13.1 mile course traveling on the scenic Acadia National Park Loop road.

June 18th – 19th, 2016: Art in the Park
The beauty of Bar Harbor was first captured on canvas in the mid-1800’s by noted American painters. Soon, other artists followed and today Bar Harbor and Down East Maine support a lively arts community.
Come join us at the longest running art show in Bar Harbor, to celebrate that artistic heritage. Come to the 65th Annual Art in the Park show, where more than 25 painters and photographers will display and sell their original work.
July 3rd – 31st, 2016: Bar Harbor Music Festival
Acclaimed by Phi Beta Baton as “…one of the nation’s proving grounds for gifted young artists”, the Bar Harbor Music Festival has gained national recognition for its important work. At the threshold of its 50th Anniversary in 2016, it remains one of the few music festivals in the United States whose guiding mission is to provide essential performance opportunities for outstanding up-and-coming talent. During the past 48 years, the Festival has advanced the careers of over 1,800 aspiring instrumentalists, singers, and composers, presenting a glorious summer of music ranging from opera to jazz.

July 4th, 2016: Bar Harbor’s Independence Day celebration
4th of July festivities including a pancake breakfast, parade, lobster races, music from the town band, seafood festival and of course fireworks over Frenchman Bay.

September 17th, 2016: MDI YMCA Fall Half Marathon and 5K
This race is the MDI YMCA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the Half Marathon help fund all of the MDI YMCA’s programs. The MDI YMCA is the cornerstone of youth development and recreational activities on the island.
The course is a ½ marathon, 13.1 miles. It is a challenging loop course, with the start and finish at the Bar Harbor athletic field across from the MDI YMCA. Nine miles of the course are on Acadia National Park’s carriage roads, offering a car free, excellent running surface. This is the only half marathon that runs through a national park.

September 22nd to 25th, 2016: Acadia Night Sky Festival
Join us for one of the premier night sky events on the eastern seaboard. The 8th Annual Acadia Night Sky Festival is set for September ____, 2016, and is already packed with a full schedule of events. With workshops, internationally recognized speakers and hands-on experiences, there truly is something for everyone from families to the serious amateur astronomer.

October 16th, 2016: Mount Desert Island Marathon
Presenting the award-winning Mount Desert Island Marathon, voted ‘most scenic’ and runner-up ‘best overall’ marathon by Runner’s World! Race day is held annually on the Sunday following Columbus Day. Hosted by Crow Athletics.
